Once a 3,000 acre plantation, the core 56 acres have been donated to the city of Washington for the enjoyment of the public. The plantation buildings have been preserved and much of the family furniture and equipment is on display. Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on the grounds, but not in the buildings.
