May 20 through Sept. 20. Sunrise to 8 a.m. – off-leash with voice control and leash on-hand. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. – no dogs on beach. 6 p.m. to sunset – on-leash only. These rules apply for all York beaches, including: Cape Neddick, Short Sands and Harbor Beach. TAIL-WAGGING FEATURES: Long Sands Beach lives up to its name, with over a mile of sandy shoreline stretching between the villages of York Harbor and York Beach. During off-leash early morning hours, you can run, swim and play with your dog before the day heats up. In between dog-friendly hours, the adjacent boardwalk is a great place to enjoy ocean views and four-paw mileage. If you work up an appetite, you can buy takeout from Sun and Surf Restaurant, located in the center of Long Sands Beach, and dine at one of their picnic tables.
