The Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters appropriately describes Chickasaw National Recreation Area, as it is known for its many mineral springs, cool water, flora, fauna, and wildlife. Here ones mind may wander back in time to when the early American Indian came to this area to rest, relax at the waters edge, and hunt for their food from the abundant wildlife. Leashed pets are permitted in the park, but are not allowed in the buildings or on park trails leading into the Environmental Study Area (east of the Travertine Nature Center). Leashes must be no longer than six feet.
