Atwell Mill Campground is located 19 miles (31 km) from Highway 198 on the Mineral King Road, which turns off in Three Rivers. It is 6 miles (10 km) from the end of the road in Mineral King Valley. The campground is along the East Fork of the Kaweah River in a once logged giant sequoia grove. It is one hour from the town of Three Rivers, one and a half hours from the main entrance to Sequoia National Park, and two and one half hours from Giant Forest Museum.
